The four kinds of conflict in literature and movies

You are all such great actors, though I think some of you were more dramatic than others.  Period 6 and 7 worked in accents into their skits.  Strange! :)

So, let us review just a little:

1)  Self vs. Self:  A character has an internal conflict.  He/she has to decide on a hard choice.  It's often a choice between right and wrong.
2)  Character vs. Character:  A character has an external conflict.  He/she is faced with a problem that another character in the story creates.  For example, a character might have to escape from another character, battle another character, or stand up to a character.
3)  Character vs. Nature:  A character has an external conflict.  The character in the story needs to find a way to survive a problem in nature such as a flood, volcanic eruption, or earthquake.
4)  Character vs. Group/Society:  A character has an external conflict.  The character might have to escape or face a government or a group of people that have gone wrong.  Two great examples of this are The Outsiders and The Giver.

Any questions?
