Skill 5: Readers can cite events that make them change their minds about characters.
Event
-------
Henry's dad says goodbye and leaves for the hospital.
View Before
---------------
Henry's dad seemed to be a used up waste of space. Not that it was entirely his fault, but he just didn't know how to live without Eddie. His family fell apart as he lived "lifelessly." I didn't think he was so great as a person or even a good father.
View After
-------------
When we see Henry's dad heading out to the hospital, our point of view changes. Now we see him as a stronger person. He realizes how his inaction and inability to cope has hurt the family. I think much more of him because he's doing the right thing. Sure, he messed up, but he's taking the steps to make it right. Doing the right thing isn't always easy, but I'm glad he's doing the right thing!
