Compare and contrast...now with your nonfiction topic

We have created our subtopics for the nonfiction book that we chose in Ms. Scimone's class, so now it's time to move on.  Yes, we're moving onto our first paragraph.  First, we'll start with one of our subtopics that we think we can compare and contrast with.  I looked at my topics and the one that made the most sense was about Dali's different forms of art.  I noted the differences between his painting and his photography in a Venn Diagram, but also mentioned some similarities.

From there, I turned the Venn Diagram into a paragraph.

Remember:  start off your paragraph with a topic sentence.  You can ask yourself:  "What will this paragraph be about?"  Your answer is your first sentence!

From there, add in the details from your Venn.  Make sure to use words such as "while," "although," "in comparison," "in contrast," and "even though."
