Using transitions in your story
Transition words and phrases are essential in linking up
scenes in our stories. Without
transition words, our story will seem jumpy, awkward, and confusing. Here are some ideas on how to create
transitions from scene to scene:
Create a transition in setting:
After
we got out of the car…
When we opened the door...
Create a transition based on time:
The next day...
After finally talking to him...
Create a large break in time by:
Skipping
two lines
Centering *** between two paragraphs
Create a heading to show a time shift:
Two
Days Later
The
Next Day
