1) In Red Midnight, Ben Mikaelsen uses a great amount of imagery. Please describe two images used in the book and what these images make the reader feel.
2) Characters who are dynamic change throughout novels and characters who are static stay the same. Pick two characters from Red Midnight and explain whether they are dynamic or static.
3) Stories are driven ahead due to the conflicts that arise. Responding clearly, describe a conflict from Red Midnight, how the characters in the story face the conflict, and what the reader learns from this conflict.
As you see, I've underlined the question that's being asked of us. I then put the different tasks being asked of us in bold to show you what to concentrate on. Here is one of the answers from Period 6 that I was really proud of:
1) In Red Midnight, Ben Mikaelsen uses lots of imagery. An image that I find interesting is Santiago and Angelina falling out of the cayuco in the middle of a raging tropical storm. This makes the reader worried if they'll survive because they could lose food, supplies, or even drown. Another image the reader sees is Santiago pushing the cayuco to the Florida shore and collapsing. Finally, all the weight on the reader's shoulder falls off and we're happy that they have survived. These images are very inspiring and makes reading fun and exciting.
Shawn: great example of Santiago going to shore.
Daniel: excellent explanation of the weight being lifted off the reader's shoulder.
Awesome work peeps!
