Brainstorm #1 for Personal Narrative

When I was absent, you created a list of things that surprised or shocked you.  From there you extended one of those surprising events into a 1-2 page story.  We'll use this to help us pick our personal narrative story.  Here's an example of my brainstorm:

Surprising Events

• When I found out that my Popi (grandfather) had died.
• When I discovered that Team Phoenix teachers won a special award.
• When my mom told me that she was having a brother.  :)
• When Paul and I were playing a rock-throwing game with our tents and one hit me in the head.
• When the attacks of 9/11 happened.

From here I would pick the surprising event that I think I could write the most about.  Most of the time, the best choices for us bring up lots of emotions.  It's okay if an event is too powerful or too sad to write about for you.  For example, I might not want to share my thoughts and feelings about 9/11 because it is still full of lots of emotion and hurt for me.  That's okay, you are allowed to choose carefully.

Thank you!
