Editing our Personal Narrative stories for complete sentences and capitalizations.

Today we edited our stories so that they would look better and to fix common grammatical problems.

Complete sentences

Sentence starters must be capitalized:
Look how I capitalized the first letter of this sentence.

Sentences need punctuation at the end to be complete.

• Questions need question marks at the end.  Are you sure?  Really--are you sure?
• Only use an "!" if you're yelling, shouting, or if it's the most powerful moment of your life.  Don't use
exclamation points to talk about Justin Bieber, paper clips, or your favorite dictionary.  Instead, use it for
   very important moments.

Capitalization

• Capitalize first and last names.
• Capitalize cities, states, countries, streets, etc.
• Capitalize any word based off of a person's name, cities, states, etc.  For example we capitalize Spanish and English.
• Capitalize months and days of the week.  Do not capitalize seasons.
• Capitalize businesses like Great Wolf Lodge, Apple, Gino's, Six Flags, etc.
• Capitalize "mom" or "dad" if you can substitute in your mom or dad's name.
I yelled, "Mom, Mom!  Help!"  Here I can easily say:  "Andrea, Andrea!  Help!"  Therefore, I
     capitalize.
