Revising Our Stories Using Lenses

Today we talked about the importance of revising our stories.  Because our stories are bigger than our Personal Narratives, we need to take on a different approach.  What a good writer does is put on special lenses or glasses when they read through a story.  The writer will concentrate on that one lens, revise the story, then continue the process with other lenses.

Here is a list of lenses to use:

Deeper meaning:  what it's really about
Show, don't tell
Clarity
3D characters with good and bad traits
Sound check:  flow or left out words
