Last Friday we talked about how we often think about stories that we'd love to see in the world. You know, the stories that we wish someone would write! Well, we became our own authors and thought about the stories that we wish existed. To do that we thought about things that we like or enjoy, then we tried to create a story around that.
For me, I love to hike. I thought about that and realized there were so many stories about hiking. A different story, though is geocaching. My friend Paul and I go out geocaching and it's tons of fun for us. It's basically like a treasure hunt with latitude/longitude coordinates.
From there I thought, awesome! Here's my blurb:
Jules goes out to do some geocaching with his friend Paul. They are able to collect four out of the five items, but can't seem to find the fifth. They split up after an hour of searching. They get lost along the way. Eventually, they backtrack and find each other.
Notice how I introduced a struggle for my characters: finding each other.
